How Mercari fees work

Mercari charges US sellers one fee: a 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. There is no separate payment processing fee. On a $50 sale with no buyer-paid shipping, the fee is $5.00 and you keep $45.00.

Mercari's fees page puts it this way: "A 10% selling fee of the combined amount of item price and buyer-paid shipping will be charged to the seller." Listing is free, and the fee is only charged when your item sells.

Buyers pay their own fee on top. Mercari adds a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee to the item price and buyer-paid shipping at checkout. It does not come out of your payout.

Getting your money out

  • Direct deposit to your bank is free, once a day, and usually takes up to 5 business days. A failed deposit costs $2.
  • Instant Pay to an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit card costs $3 per cash-out, up to $600 a month.

These payout fees aren't included in the calculator, because they are charged per cash-out, not per sale.

How to pay less on Mercari

  • Use free direct deposit instead of Instant Pay. On a $30 cash-out, the $3 Instant Pay fee is another 10%.
  • Promote by lowering the price. Mercari's Promote button is free: lowering your price by 5% or more boosts your listing in search.
  • Avoid cancellations. Mercari may charge frequent cancellers 5% of the item price, up to $25.
